BJ McCullick
Back to Attorneys
BJ McCullick joined the firm in 2016 as an associate immigration attorney and was promoted to Managing Attorney in May 2021. Her previous work as in-house immigration counsel for a large health care technology corporation in Kansas City gave her broad exposure to key issues in business immigration. BJ’s experience includes managing the U.S.-based temporary and permanent immigrant visa process for large populations, ensuring immigration compliance in employment decisions and policies, monitoring regulatory changes and advising business partners accordingly, strategic planning in sponsorship opportunities, and managing the visa process for a large population of out-bound travelers. BJ has also been effective in securing family-based visas, and humanitarian grounds of relief.
During law school BJ interned for the Honorable Ortrie D. Smith, U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Missouri. She also interned performing research and writing for the U.S. Immigration Court located in Kansas City, Missouri, and spent a summer clerking with the Pro Bono division of a large Kansas City-based litigation defense firm. Before law school, BJ spent six years in the legal department of a health care technology corporation, gaining experience with corporate legal issues including contract negotiation, management of a large IP portfolio, employment litigation, and corporate compliance in the ever-changing world of health care regulations. Through her long tenure in the corporate world, BJ has learned the importance of providing sound legal advice without losing sight of the needs of the business. In this way, BJ is uniquely positioned as a strong advocate and strategic partner for employers navigating the increasingly difficult area of immigration compliance.
